You’ve Been Accepted!

Congratulations! You’re on your way to becoming a Bengal! Whether you are a first-year or transfer student, we’ll take you through the next steps in the process.

Accepted Students - Your Next Steps

Guarantee your spot! Spring deposits are due by November 1 (or within 30 days of your acceptance letter if after November 1). Fall deposits are due by May 1 (or within 30 days of your acceptance letter if after May 1).

Buffalo State will continue to accept tuition deposits on a case-by-case basis after the May 1 priority deadline. Please note that we cannot guarantee scholarships, financial aid, or space in the incoming class beyond this date. You're welcome to take the time you need to make your decision—we encourage you to reach out with any questions or for help securing your spot for the Fall 2025 semester.

Submit Your Tuition Deposit


Students accepted into the EOP program do not need to submit a tuition deposit, but are required to submit the "Admissions Reply Form."

To verify that your final transcript and proof of high school graduation have been received, please call the Admissions Office at (716) 878-4017.

If you are filing for any type of state or federal aid, receipt of a final high school transcript or GED/TASC will be required before any funds can be disbursed.

Submit Proof of AP/IB/CLEP/College Coursework

If you took college courses during high school or expect credit from an exam (AP, IB, CLEP, etc.), please be sure you have requested official transcripts and/or score reports to be sent to the Admissions Office.
AP Scores: Request your score report through the College Board website. A score of 3 or higher will earn college credit.
IB Scores: Request your score report through the International Baccalaureate website. A score of 4 or higher will earn college credit.
CLEP Scores: Call 1-800-257-9558 to have your CLEP credits transferred and use our CEEB code (2533).
College Transcripts: Contact the institution’s Registrar/Bursar Office directly or request their transcript through Parchment. ** All college transcripts must be sent directly from the college or university in order for them to be considered official.

Prepare for Course Registration

First-Year Students
All first-year students will be assigned to a Professional Advisor, who will provide academic guidance, help you select your courses, and assist you as you adjust to student life. You will need to complete the pre-advisement survey located under the Enrollment tab in your applicant portal. This information is then sent to your Professional Advisor who will work with you to create your schedule.

First-Year Student Advising

Orientation is mandatory for all new incoming students. Students can register for orientation through the student portal. If you have secured your spot to attend Buffalo State, you will receive an email with the subject "Register For Orientation." Please visit the orientation website for additional details.

As a new student, you'll need to access several online systems to perform different tasks and get important information.

Additional Steps for Transfer and International Students

Transfer Students

You will need to complete the Transfer Tutorial Modules located under the Enrollment tab in your applicant portal. Once you successfully complete all modules, you will receive your temporary advising pin via e-mail and instructions on advisement. Transfer students with 44 credits or less will be assigned a Professional Transfer Advisor. Transfer students with 45 credits or more will be assigned a Faculty Advisor in their major.

In your Applicant Portal, your Enrollment Checklist will contain links to modules in the Transfer Tutorial.

Please review all modules to learn more about advising, course registration, and how to review transfer credits in Degree Works.

Once you review all the modules, you will receive an email with your advising PIN. You are strongly encouraged to make an appointment with your advisor for assistance in choosing and registering for classes.
